Where:

H = Gauge reading

H1 = Strapping table gauge, the last entry where H1 < H

H2 = Strapping table gauge, the next entry after H1

X1 = Mass or volume from strapping table corresponding to H1

X2 = Mass or volume from strapping table corresponding to H2

X = Total observed mass or volume for gauge reading
