Rectangular Tank with Flat Ends
For the Rectangular Tank with Flat Ends, the gauge reading is converted to the total observed volume using the following equation.
Where:
H = Gauge reading
L = Vessel length, same length units as H
W = Width, same units as H
B = Height, same units as H. Note that this variable is not used in the volume calculation, but it does have uses in data validation.
V = Total observed tank volume at gauge reading
EXAMPLE: Rectangular Tank with Flat Ends
The rectangular horizontal tank with flat ends has the dimensions of 8ft by 20 ft at the base and a height of 9ft,. What is the total observed liquid volume for a gauge of 4ft 3in?
V = 680.39 ft3 = 121.11 bbls
See Configuring - Rectangular Tank with Flat Ends for details on how to configure this tank type.
