Cylindrical Horizontal Tank with Hemispherical Ends
For the Cylindrical Horizontal Tank with Hemispherical Ends, the gauge reading is converted to the total observed volume using the following equations:
Where:
R = Tank radius, length units
H = Gauge reading, same length units as R
L = Tangent-to-tangent length, same length units as R
V1 = Total observed volume of the main cylinder for gauge reading
Vs = Total observed volume of hemispherical end for gauge reading
V = Total observed tank volume at gauge reading
EXAMPLE: Cylindrical Horizontal Tank with Hemispherical Ends
The cylindrical tank with hemispherical ends has the dimensions of 7ft in diameter and a tangent-to-tangent length of 20ft. What is the total observed liquid volume for a gauge of 4ft 3in ?
Vs = 59.11 ft3
V1 = 489.33 ft3
V = 489.33 + 2 x 59.11 = 607.55 ft3 = 108.14 bbls
See Configuring - Cylindrical Horizontal Tank with Hemispherical Ends for details on how to configure this tank type.
