Using Keywords in a Search

Keywords can be used either as a single search term, or in combination with a name, phrase or as part of a search sentence, to restrict the search to only those elements with at least one attribute that has the keyword. For example, if you enter the Keyword BADDATA in the search box, the search engine finds only those elements having at least one attribute with "bad data". Using keywords in a more complex search sentence can help you narrow the scope of the elements returned due to the keyword being used as a filter.

When entering keywords in the search box, capitalization is not necessary; baddata, BADDATA, Baddata and BadData will all return the same results. However, you must use the proper structure of the keyword in order for the search engine to recognize it as a keyword. For example, if you enter 'BAD DATA' or 'bad data' the search engine will not return elements with attributes that have "bad data". You can also use a keyword in conjunction with other search terms. For example, you can refine a BADDATA keyword search by including "input" or "output" in the search sentence. In this scenario, 'BADDATA input' will return only those Elements having INPUT Attributes in Bad data status, while 'BADDATA output' will return only those Elements having OUTPUT Attributes in Bad data status.

When a search for multiple Elements is performed using a keyword (such as "BADDATA"), the resulting Elements are tagged with orange stick pin icons in the Display panel. As a user clicks on one of those Elements in the Display panel, the Element Detail panel opens, displaying the Element name at the top of the panel, along with navigation buttons (on the left and right) for cycling through the other Elements matching the search. When a navigation button is clicked, the next (or previous) Element from the resulting Element list is displayed along with its details. As an Element is selected and displayed in the Element Detail panel, its indicator in the Display panel turns from orange to red, to indicate that the Element is selected.
