Administrator Tasks
The Administrator tasks can be performed only by those who have been assigned to the 'Administrator' Security Group.
An administrator is responsible for the following tasks in TES:
- Specifying Categories and Attributes
- Specifying Custom Settings
- Specifying the Transfer Name Mask
- Specifying the TES Database
- Editing the TES.Groups Table
To support these responsibilities, the Administrator has an "Administrative Task" sub-menu that is available from the "Task" menu on the menu bar. The administrator options are explained in the following table.
Administrator Task Options
| Menu & Sub-Menu Option | Option | Features |
|---|---|---|
| Task > Administrative Task... | Database Selection... | Used to select the database and edit the tables used by the Operators for creating transfers and working with the TES tables. |
| TES Settings... | Used to select categories and attributes, custom settings, and transfer name masks. | |
| Archive TES Tables... | Used to archive TES tables. |
Note: The TES Administrator must configure User IDs and passwords before Operators can access TES. For further details, please see Create a New User.
Some additional tasks are assigned to the TES Administrator which are not performed through the TES application, but rather through the PI System Management Tools console. These tasks are required to allow users to access and work with TES.
