Create TES Users

There are two types of users that require access to the TES application:

  • Administrators (TES admins)
  • Operators (TES users)

Administrator users who belong to a group called "TES Administrators." can access any of the AF databases for the specified PI System selected during the login procedure, and are responsible for the following tasks:

  • Creating and maintaining all TES tables

  • Configuring the Transfer Name Mask

  • Setting up AF categories for the Transfer sources and destinations, Transfer attributes (Object Status and Self-Calculating flags), and the language for the Transfer Entry form. (The current release of TES, includes only U.S. English and Mexico Spanish.)

  • Creating and editing both the user/group configuration and the AF Database access security with the PI System Management Tool.

Note: The examples described in the following \topics show how to create the TES Administrators group, how to create TES Users groups and how to assign members to the groups.

For further details on the TES administrator user and security tasks, see:

  • Create a New User

  • Create Security Groups

Operator users who belong to the group called "TES Users" are responsible for creating and saving AF transfers in the AF database specified by the Administrator. For more details about Operator options, please see the Operator Tasks \topics.

IMPORTANT: All users who require access to TES must be assigned to either the TES Administrators or TES Users group. If a user is not assigned to either group they will not be able to use TES.
