Display Editor Shortcuts

Here are summarized the display editor gestures and shortcuts with the aim to allow you to understand how to activate panels, property panels, select symbols.

Moving the mouse on the display editor canvas

When moving the mouse on the display editor canvas, the mouse pointer changes its aspect if hoover a graphic object. When the mouse pointer changes to , then the use can actualize the selection of the graphic object (e.g., symbols, connectors, etc.).

Click on the Display Editor canvas

Activate the Display Property panel.

Click on a Graphic Symbol

Activate the Symbol Property panel, or user can:

  • Drag the symbol on the display.
  • Resize the symbol.
  • Move annotations if any.
  • Change or arrange the connector (polyline).
Note

Selecting a connector may be difficult if its size is thin. In this case you can magnify all connectors from the Style tab of the Display Property panel.

Click and Drag a Graphic Symbol

The symbol and eventually all attached symbols will be moved.

If the graphic symbol is a main symbol with an attached symbol (e.g., flow and meter), then the attached symbol also enters in the selection. You can drag the symbol on the display together with its attached symbol.

Note

The release of the mouse button followed by a next click will deselect the attached symbol and the symbol property panel will activated.

Shift + Click

Multiple selection of Graphic Elements.

Shift + Click + Drag

Draw a selection box to select multiple Graphic Elements.

Ctrl + Mouse wheel

Zoom in or zoom out the display (please see next paragraph for more details).

Delete

Delete the selected Graphic Symbols.

Arrow Keys

Move current selection of Graphic Elements.

Display zoom

The new zoom mode allows you to zoom in and out of the display, using the mouse wheel, relative to the cursor position.

Gestures:

  • CTLR + Mouse Wheel DOWN zoom in
  • CTLR + Mouse Wheel UP zoom out
Note

It is important to remember that when in Authoring mode, the display cannot be moved negatively, and therefore by zooming out it is possible that the display does not maintain the cursor position as it is anchored to the 0.0 position

+ and - buttons

Using the + - buttons, the zoom is always applied with respect to the current top, left position of the display and not with respect to the cursor position

Default zoom

Using the default zoom percentages, the zoom is always applied relative to the current top, left position of the display and not relative to the cursor position
