Integration Framework Security
Integration Framework uses a security Model in order to have secure access to the IF engine/server and the configured objects (DataServer and Dataset). The IF security Model is based on the Windows security Model that is integrated with Windows Active Directory log ins. With IF, there are no log in credentials required. However, the security Model can be configured to support the SSO paradigm under the Windows operating systems.
Note:
- Windows users and groups can be either domain (Active Directory) or local (over machine is hosting the IF server) users.
- In order to establish a valid remote connection with the domain account, the client and server machines must relay over the same Active Directory domain (forest).
- Upon installation, the default configuration is to allow connecting and configuring all users (both local and remote users).
For additional information regarding IF security levels and management, \please see the IF Security Levels and Managing IF Security topics.
In order to have secure access to the IF engine/server and its configured objects, Integration Framework implements a security Model with a full-featured access scenario. This security Model is based on the Microsoft Windows security Model integrated with Windows Active Directory log ins. With IF, there are no log in credentials required. However, it can be configured to support the SSO paradigm under the Windows operating system by working with the actual logged in user.
Integration Framework can work with either a domain or with local-machine windows users and groups. If working with a domain, Integration Framework will look-up the security groups from the configured Active Directory of the server machine. If working with local-machine Windows users and groups, it will use the security groups or policies of the machine hosting the IF server. In order to establish a valid remote connection, the Integration Framework client and server machines must relay over the same Windows domain (forest).
The Integration Framework security Model can be configured only at the server level. This means that if you has multiple Integration Framework servers in your company, all the servers must be configured in order to talk with the clients and (if needed) to talk to each other, to exchange information or trigger complex multiple actions across servers.
