Fuel Oil Equivalents (FOE)

The following are the relative conversion equations.

FOE Volume to Standard Gas Volume

The conversion of fuel oil equivalent (FOE) volume to standard gas volume requires the heat content of a volume of fuel oil constant and the heat content of the material.

Where:

VSN = Gas volume at standard or normal conditions

V = Volume in fuel oil equivalent (FOE) volume units

BtuToFOEVol = Global constant of heating value per volume of fuel oil. The value is from the Global Factors element, SF_GlobalFactors.

FOEConv = Fuel oil equivalent heating value of material per gas volume

Standard Gas Volume to FOE Volume

The conversion of standard gas volume to FOE volume requires the heat content of a volume of fuel oil constant and the heat content of the material.

Where:

VSN = Gas volume at standard or normal conditions

V = Volume in fuel oil equivalent volume units

BtuToFOEVol = Global constant of heating value per volume of fuel oil. The value is from the Global Factors element, SF_GlobalFactors.

FOEConv = Fuel oil equivalent heating value of material per gas volume

FOE Mass to Mass

The conversion of FOE volume to mass requires the heat content of a mass of fuel oil constant and the heat content of the material.

Where:

mass = Mass of gas

M = Mass in fuel oil equivalent mass units

BtuToFOEMass = Global constant of heating value per mass of fuel oil. The value is from the Global Factors element, SF_GlobalFactors.

FOEConv = Fuel oil equivalent heating value of material per gas mass

Mass to FOE Mass

The conversion of mass to FOE mass requires the heat content of a mass of fuel oil constant and the heat content of the material.

Where:

mass = Mass of gas

M = Mass in fuel oil equivalent mass units

BtuToFOEMass = Global constant of heating value per mass of fuel oil. The value is from the Global Factors element, SF_GlobalFactors.

FOEConv = Fuel oil equivalent heating value of material per gas mass
