Transfer Summary Data Reference

Transfer Summary Data Reference Introduction

The OSISoft Asset Framework has a built-in capability of making calculations over any kind of Attributes and elements. However, it may be necessary to evaluate within an Element some Attribute values coming from transfers. Since transfers may or may not exist within the time-frame considered (the Sigmafine case), there is the need to capture Transfer values within an Element Attribute given some configurable rules. The Transfer Summary Data Reference is provided for this purpose. For example, the calculation of a certain amount of mass coming from transfer entering into a specific tank can be obtained using this data reference.

The Transfer Summary Data Reference makes several simple aggregations (summary calculations) along the selected transfers according to the user’s calculation configuration. Moreover, along with aggregation evaluations, the Transfer Summary Data Reference performs unit-of-measure conversions within the same class.

Note:

IMPORTANT!

The Transfer Summary Data Reference can convert only Unit of Measures belonging to the same class, not belonging to different classes. In this respect, if you configure the calculation of the total volume of the outgoing transfer to a specific shipment point, it cannot convert the result into Kg or a mass since Volume and Mass have different UOM classes. In this case, it is suggested to perform at transfer level the conversion for each volume into mass, then summarize with this DR the newly calculated mass attribute.

The Transfer Summary Data Reference is merely a calculation Data Reference, so it does not support STRING calculations. The summarized Attribute must be a valid float, and usually string (not numeric types) are discarded automatically. For the Filter attribute, the Attribute may be a string type.
