Editable Comments for Attribute Values

To add Editable Comment columns to the Excel import file, columns have to be inserted for the additional fields you want to include, as shown in the following figure.Figure 963: Import file format for editable comments

When adding a specific Adjustment Comment column for an attribute, the column heading should be in the format “ADJUSTMENTCOMMENT_\<attributename\>” and the column itself should be to the right of the original Attribute name. You can also define a general Adjustment Comment to provide users withthe ability to specify default comments for all Attributes of the element. The format of the this column is ADJUSTMENTCOMMENT_GENERAL.

  • Use an ADJUSTMENTCOMMENT_\<attributename\> column for any of the Attributes that are being adjusted and need a custom comment in the Asset Framework (AF) database.

In the Figure 963 example, the NetVolume, MeasuredMass and Material Attributes for TK 103 will have specific comments entered into AF when their values are adjusted.

  • Do not use an ADJUSTMENTCOMMENT_\<attributename\> column, if the default comment is adequate for all of the newly imported adjustments.

The Data Importer application uses “Adjustment from Data Importer” as the standard default comment to fill the comment field in AF.

Use an “ADJUSTMENTCOMMENT_GENERAL” column if you want to provide a means specifying default comments for all Attributes of the element.

The ADJUSTMENTCOMMENT_GENERALcolumn must be the last column to the right in the file.

For example, if an Attribute needs to use a general comment, the “ADJUSTMENTCOMMENT_\<attributename>” column would be left blank or excluded from the file, and the general comment would be used for all Attributes in that element. If an Attribute comment or a general comment is not specified, the application would default to the standard comment.
