Importing Strapping Tables

Strapping Tables are different from the concept of Elements. The characteristics of Strapping Tables are:

  • Strapping Tables belong to the Database.
  • Strapping Tables are independent of Model, Analysis Rule and Case.

To import Strapping Tables:

  1. Double-click on the Data Importer file (Pimsoft.DataImport.exe).

The Data Importer main window opens.Figure 1012: Sigmafine Data Importer - Select System and Database

  2. Click on the System down-arrow and select the AF Server or System.

If the server or system you are seeking does not appear in the drop-down menu, use the ellipsis button to locate and select the correct server or system.

  3. Click the Database down-arrow and select the database that exists on the AF Server.

Only the databases available on the selected server or system will be available in the list of database selections.

Note: The Databases cannot be modified within Data Importer, nor can new databases be created.

  4. Check the Load Tables checkbox (as shown in the following figure).Figure 1013: Select Load Tables as the Load Option

Once you check the Load Tables checkbox, the Model, Analysis, Case, Type, Template, Adjustment, Load Transfers into and Refresh Elements options all become inactive. This happens because none of these options are applicable when importing Strapping Tables.

  5. Click on the Select Data File Folder button Folder’ to browse for the folder which has the Excel file.

It is recommended that a short folder path is used in lieu of a long one. Example: “C:\Strapping Tables\”.

A Browse For Folder window opens.Figure 1014: Browse For Folder

  6. Locate and select the Excel file that you have prepared for the import of the Strapping Tables.

For details on how to format the import file in Excel, see Import File Format for Strapping Tables.

  7. Click OK to save your selection and close the Browser For Folder window.

You are returned to the main Data Importer window.

Unlike Elements and Transfers, the file does not need to be opened.

Note: If you are importing a strapping table with the same name as one that already exists in the database, the values in the existing strapping table are replaced by the new imported values. Should you wish to keep the existing strapping table's current data, you must rename that strapping table in the database before importing the updated strapping table. See Renaming an Existing Strapping Table in the Database for more details.

  8. Click the Import Data button to begin the import.

All the Strapping Table files in the selected folder are created as tables in the database.

When the import finishes, a confirmation window opens.Figure 1015: Import confirmation message window

  9. Click OK to close the confirmation window.

  10. Click on the View Log button to open the log file in Notepad.

  11. Close the log file when you are done viewing it.
