Terminology

The following terms are used throughout the Excel Add-In \topics and relate to the analysis and Modeling tools.

Common Terms

TermDefinition
ModelA Model is the complete set of information necessary for performing an analysis on a case. A typical Model might cover one section of the plant or process and include the analysis type (mass balance, imbalance) and the time intervals (e.g. hourly, daily).
ElementAn entity or Element in a model. Element types are measurement, node, flow, boundary, or user defined.
AttributeElement configuration information, such as the measured value of a meter Element or a level of a tank element.
ValueAn input or output of an analysis that can change from one calculation period to the next. Examples are input values, such as density and output values, such as reconciled mass.
Case PeriodThe time range of a single analysis run.
