Excel Add-In Introduction

The Sigmafine Add-In to Microsoft Excel lets you access analysis information stored on the Sigmafine Server. Within these systems you can access data models, elements and Attributes associated with the elements, as well as the analysis results contained within a result set or case. This information is then made available in your spreadsheet, greatly facilitating the creation of report templates or ad hoc reports based on the data model.

Accessing the data Model analysis and structural information is accomplished through the use of SF menu items added to the Excel ribbon. With the SF add-in, you can access data from the Sigmafine Model to perform such functions as analyzing measurement error and creating reports.

The Sigmafine Add-In operates in the following manner:

  • Functions can include references to cells in the spreadsheet. When a cell reference changes, the function is automatically update.
  • Data Functions are available to retrieve Model and Element characteristics. Data calls can also do calculations, minimizing the amount of Excel functions when building an analysis or report.
  • Functions can be created through a menu based wizard, or through typing directly into a cell.

The Sigmafine Excel Add-In provides general data access to the Attributes and values of the elements in any data Model for any Analysis case.

A data Case is identified by four characteristics: Database, Model, Analysis, and Case End Time. This information is needed in every data call, and is best implemented by using cell references to the spreadsheet for these items. All Sigmafine Add-In functions support cell references for the necessary configuration arguments.

Because of the graphic navigational tools provided by the Sigmafine Excel Add-In, you can easily create custom reports or calculations without having to know the structure of the model, and without having to do any computer programming.
