PI Data Access

In order to be able to send data to PI Tags, the Data Loader must connect to a PI Server. The Data Loader does not allow a user to log in, therefore, the permissions to do this log in are controlled by the PI Trusts in the PI Server. PI Trusts map the client application, computer identification or Windows user name to the account on the PI Server that allows access to PI tags and their data.

The PI user account configured in the PI Trust must have 'write' access permission to the PI tags managed by the Data Loader. To add a PI Trust to a PI Server, use the PI System Management Tools console with the PI SMT Security plug-in.
