Balance Errors

In the process of reconciliation, balance errors are distributed as the minimum corrections (the sum of the squares of all the corrections is a minimum) to the measured flows to bring them into balance. This gives the closest set of flows consistent with fundamental physical principles: laws conserving mass and energy.
