Composition Tracking - Required Source Analysis Rule
The Composition Tracking Analysis Rule may require that a previously configured analysis be available, based on either the Sigmafine Mass Balance or Sigmafine Volume Balance Analysis Rules. This depends on the balance rule that you select while configuring the Composition Tracking Analysis Rule. If required, this mass/volume balance analysis rule provides the source set of measured and reconciled data. Two initial Cases must be run on this source analysis. The information is used as initialization information for the composition tracking analysis. After the first two source Cases are run, each consecutive mass or volume balance Case can have a corresponding composition tracking analysis case. Note that the time range for each composition tracking Case needs to be identical to the time range of the source case. This can be done only by using the same time rule settings for both analyses.
Note: The reconciled balance rule requires a source analysis rule. If other balance rules are selected, then a source analysis rule can be used but it is not required.
Consider the following example.
You create a mass balance analysis that has Cases with the time ranges shown in the following table.
Example: Mass Balance Time Ranges
| Start Date | End Date |
|---|---|
| 1/1/05 00:00:00 | 1/2/05 00:00:00 |
| 1/2/05 00:00:00 | 1/3/05 00:00:00 |
The initial Case for a composition tracking analysis is based on the first mass balance Case and has this time range: 1/1/05 00:00:00 to 1/2/05 00:00:00. You run this initial Case through the third step (Collect Inputs) and set the initial compositions using the Composition Tracking Data Viewer.
The first composition tracking Case that you run to completion has this time range: 1/2/05 00:00:00 to 1/3/05 00:00:00.
Every consecutive Case for composition tracking needs a corresponding mass balance from which to obtain its data. So, the next mass balance Case has this time range: 1/3/05 00:00:00 to 1/4/05 00:00:00; the next composition tracking Case is also 1/3/05 00:00:00 to 1/4/05 00:00:00.
