Determine Model Solvability

The Sigmafine Balance analysis first examines the measurement information that is available and determines what can be calculated from this data. Elements that are marked "out-of-service" are excluded as possible paths. In addition, if the balance setting "Propagate service status" is selected, all flows coming in and out of a node that is out of service will also be considered out of service. Likewise if all flows going to/from a node are out of service then, the node will also be considered out of service.

If a measurement is not available on a flow, it may be possible to calculate it if enough of the surrounding flows are measured. This first step of analysis assigns the following solvability status to all flows.

  • R – The flow quantity is redundant as it is both measured and solvable.
  • NR – The flow quantity is measured, but not redundant.
  • S – The flow quantity is solvable.
  • NS – The flow quantity is not solvable.

The solvability status is stored in an Attribute of the flows. The default name of this Attribute is "ReconciledMassSolvability."
